Default Best Workout for Abs

Whats the best workout for getting great abs?

What routine works out best to give your abs the great look?

I try a various different amount of exercises and routines, such as situps, crunches, a bit of pilates! Any more suggestions?

I once thought that doing lots of crunches would help if you do them consistently everday, but my P.E. teacher told me that you should get rid of your stomach fat first (if you have it) before working on your abs.

Those dreaded ab crunches... I hate them... Yet they seem to be the only thing that helps, if anything does.

A friend of mine had once told me that she does a "swimming" exercise for her abs - lies on the floor, on the stomach, and does swimming motions with her arms, having her legs lifted above the floor as well. I have not tried it though.

I've never heard of that one. Is it very effective for your friend? How much fat or calories is she able to burn by doing that? Does it hurt?

wow this is interesting. I never heard of this before. But it looks like it would really help since the stomach/abs will have a lot of pressure in that position. I have to try this one time. thanks for the information.

that make sense to me..by getting rid means maybe to undergo any lipo or the natural way of dieting and the likes..isn't it so hirami?

Do you ever hear about Envy, a tutorial video guiding you to doing work up for improving the appearance (and strength also) of specific parts of your body like abs, arms, legs, and your whole body. The abs exercise is really nice, easy to do and seems to work if it is done regularly.

The easiest exercise for abs would be sit ups, it always works and you can do it in your time and in the comfort of your own home.

I use to have a machine that I did my situps with. I think it was calle the Ab Sculpter. It made it very easy to do crunches and it really worked! Then I got lazy and stopped using it...big mistake.

Thumbs up Hi

Crunches aren't always the best way to target your abs. Also ab exercises alone are not enough. you need to lose overall body fat with cardio, strength training and a healthy diet for the best results.

Some of the following exercises are good for you
Bicycle, Ball Crunch, Vertical Leg Crunch, Long Arm Crunch, Reverse Crunch, Plank on Elbows and toes.

Chanchal its obvious that body fat needs to be reduced too, otherwise a person who is over weight or has a lot of body fat wouldn't really work no their abs, would they?

Those who are quite fit, and have an ideal weight generally work on their abs, so therefore crunches are the best way to target the abs.

I think the best workout for abs is to walk a lot and also swim. Both are very easy and you won't even feel like you're working out

I've tried various exercises but I always got bored doing them. Sit-ups are the only exercise that I've been able to stick with throughout the years and I find them very effective. I've had two kids but I have no bulge thanks to the sit-ups. I'd say keep doing whatever works for you the best and what you enjoy the most.

I alternate between crunches on my back with my legs raised, Callanetics style, and doing crunches while on a ball. It's true, I don't think it ab exercises get rid of your stomach fat. What they do is strengthen your muscles. At least that's my experience.
