I have slacked off on my running and decided to get back into it. I went to the gym and I ran on the treadmill. Actually as I was running, I felt like I was doing better than I though I would. I was proud of myself. Usually after running you get sore the next day. I wasn't really sore, but then the second day is when it hit. I AM SORE!! I knew this would happen, and yes I stretched before and after the run. Why the delay in the soreness??

It depends on everyone body, it maybe that because you did do running before, and then left a gap, but because there was a gap and you ran for a long period there soreness was there and hit your body a bit late! This is just a guess!

I suggest you give you feet some rest, and do continue with your running but at a slower or shorter pace, and gradually build up.

Good for you! Starting to workout always takes a toll on our bodies, but for the good. You expected the soreness and now you have it. I don't know why it took a couple of days, but at least you know it is working.

Every body is different.... however, I will tell you this.. if you are a runner the best thing you can do is build up the muscles above and below your knees so they are strong and therefore less likely to injure. Your knees will love you for it.. they usually take a beating no matter when we do.
