Default Simple Tips on Exercise and Longevity

Exercise is the worst fear of modern people. The introduction of computers, television, cell phones etc has made us lazy. During the past century, the lifestyle has changed dramatically. Every new invention enabled us to minimize the effort. The chance of physical exercise vanished from our life.

Do you know?

A study was conducted on a control group of 100. Those who took exercise for 3.5 hours per week were found to have younger cells and DNA (by 9 years).

Regular exercise can add 2 years to your life span.

According to experts, 3 hours of physical activity / week is mandatory.

Organizing your Schedule

You need not be an expert to understand the benefits of exercise. It is a life style problem. Exercise replaces the physical activity that would have happened normally. Take regular exercise.

When we talk of 3 hours of exercise, don’t spend it in a stretch. Intermittent exercise is of no use. While doing exercise, you are teaching your body. You are preparing the body for a minimum work load. You should be continuous in your efforts. This is not a one time process. It should be gradual to achieve the desired effect.

Once you start exercise, your body will respond accordingly. It understands the need for rebuilding the muscles (which are basically made of cells). When you exercise for 4 days and then discontinue for 2 days, this process of rebuilding becomes unnecessary. Because your body feels that it was only a temporary requirement.

Exercise need not be done at gym. Walking is the best anti aging exercise. 30 minutes per day will be ideal.

Effect on your body

In simple words, exercise provides you a sound sleep. A sound sleep is a necessity for all basic functions. Our cells are automatically refreshed during the sleep. Improper sleep will lead to lesser count of white blood cells. A lesser cell count indicates depreciation in the immune system.

Exercise demands sweating. While sweating, body excretes harmful chemicals through sweat.

Exercise improves your energy level, concentration and presence of mind. Exercise can reduce the free radicals in your body.

All these factors effectively reduce stress. As stress level reduces, your mental fitness increases.

Lack of exercise can lead to

1. Blood pressure
2. Mental illness
3. Cancer

The word exercise does not confine to physical exercise. However, physical exercise can considerably improve mental health.

Exercise makes you younger

Exercise prevents telomeres from getting shorter. Telomeres are part of chromosomes. They determine the life expectancy. Shorter telomeres can initiate age related diseases. Regular exercise (about 30 minutes per day) can effectively work on telomeres. Telomere length is linked with the count of white blood cells.

That's a good post and it hammers into my conscience. I've been sitting in front of my computer all along, without exercise. I have to get up and do it now.

That is a very informative post. I never thought that we could benefit lots from walking even for thirty minutes. That would not be too hard for everybody. Our body and mind work together and I think we should not take them for granted. So, have you tried it lately?

Hi IBF,
Excellent threat and thanks for bringing exercise awareness through this post.
It is getting difficult to get time for exercise from our busy schedule. We must eat healthy and exercise regularly to reduce weight and increase health.
