Default Does the baby go to the bathroom?

I've always wondered if the baby ever goes to the bathroom while it's in the womb. The baby eats what the mother eats, so does the baby use up all the nutrients? Are there any waste products?

I don't think there is a bathroom inside the womb. I'm not quite sure about this stuff it all seems to be sooo intruiging to me.

It doesn't go to the bathroom in the womb. all the waste products are sent
back through the umbilical cord I think.

LOL reira!!

Farce is right, the baby's waste in the womb is gotten rid of through the umbilical cord. I think it can be the reason why pregnant women feel unwell / nauseous, too, but I am not sure about that.

Wow, that's amazing. The umbilical cord does all of that? I guess it is a good thing that the baby doesn't just go to the bathroom inside of the womb. That would be a very big problem.

It is very dangerous when that happens. Sometimes that happens
during delivery and they have to do emergency c-section if they see
that happening. I think it is called muconium poisoning or something,
I forget the exact word.

So many things can go wrong during the pregnancy, it seems. What other purposes does the umbilical cord have? If waste exits through the umbilical cord, what form does it take in the mother's body?

The umbilical cord is the main conduit for the baby's nourishment.

the waste part which is basically blood and other fluids
I think passes through the mother's kidneys and gets
cleaned up.

That explanation makes since, farce. I guess that's one way of explaining the mother's increased urination (and expelling of other wastes) during the pregnancy.

I think that the reason pregnant women frequently urinate is because as the baby grows within the womb it takes up space within the woman's body putting pressure upon the other organs including the bladder. The bladder has less space and cannot contain as much liquid causing the woman to urinate more frequently.

Farce you are wrong .... (ohh if your million fans catch me saying this.... )

the umbilical cord cord functions to supply oxygen and nutrient rich blood to the baby and it returns the oxygen and nutrient depleted blood to the moms circulatory system.

the baby does have waste production while in the womb, it urinates into the womb from .... the baby kidneys develop to the stage in which it can process the amniotic fluid that it swallows , the waste products are urinated out into the amniotic fluid again. the urine does not pass through the mothers kidney .... but the amniotic fluid is constantly renewed by the amniotic sac walls.

As for pooping.... baby poop while in the womb is called meconium .... most of it which is stored in the bowels and released only after birth but some amount of meconium is indeed excreted into the amniotic fluid while in the womb.

Fetal distress during labor can cause increased amounts of meconium discharge which if swallowed by the baby, has to be cleared out of its body ... stomach ... lungs... or else can lead to infection
