Default Decaf Coffee?

Does anyone know whether it is safe to drink decaf coffee during pregnancy? I know that caffeine is to be avoided, so regular coffee is out of the question, but what about decaf?

i think it would be best to avoid all types of coffee whether it be decaf or regular. even though it is decaf, it is still coffee, and may still have some caffeine levels left in it so it's best to just avoid it all.

Caffeine is fine in small amounts. You can have one cup of coffee a day my dr said, but didn't suggest more.

I don't think there would be any problem with decaf.

I SHOULD CLARIFY... My dr said to stay away from caffeine in the first trimester, after that small amounts are ok. Caffeine increases the risk of miscarriage in the first trimester.

Well, I have been reading a book on pregnancy, and it says that coffee lovers can switch to decaf. I have heard others say that it is best to play it safe and avoid coffee altogether, but I really don't think that one cup of decaf a day would be harmful.

I think any coffee should be avoided during pregnancy. Anyways, it is just for 9 months only.

Caffeine is the culprit, this is something to stay away from. Since decaf coffee does not have it, it makes sense that it is okay for pregnant women, I think. Besides, the pregnancy book I have read says so.

I honestly don't think it is. Did you know that even decaf coffee actually has caffeine in it, just a less amount of it. I would talk to your doctor.

Also, I've heard that Starbucks coffee (which, I LOVE btw.. not trying to bash them!!) is the worst when it comes to this. Their decaf almost has as much caffeine as their regular coffee. But, could just be a myth. I'm really not sure

I think it would be safe to drink decaf coffee as it does not contain the caffeine which the enemy that we need to avoid. But who knows whether the decaf coffee is really decaf or not. Your best bet might be to avoid it all together if you want to be %100 sure.
