Default How to make lassi

Lassi is one of the most healthiest beverages to have and the best part its quick and easy to make.

You can make either sweet lassi or salt lassi, and according to what kind you want you choose either one of the ingredients of salt or sugar.

Ingredients: Yogurt (from a quarter of a glass to half a glass), a glass of water, salt or sugar to taste, ice.

Procedure: Put yogurt into a bowl (the amount depends on what consistency you want the lassi to be, if you want it to be thick then add more half of a glass of yogurt or more if you want it to be thin then add a quarter of a glass of yogurt). Wisk the yogurt well so there are no lumps, now add either salt or sugar depending on whether you want a sweet or salty lassi. Mix this well and you will need to wait for a while if you want sweet lassi so that the sugar dissolves. Add the mixture to a glass and then add some chilled water and mix well and if required add some ice. And your lassi is made.

Tip: If you are having sweet lassi a thicker consistency is much better!

For the salty lassi you ca also add a bit of black pepper and mint too!

You can also make the lassi in a blender in the same step with the yogurt and salt/sugar in the blender first then the water.

Thank you for the recipe Rizwana - finally I know how to make it! I think I might like to try out the salty one first and then the sweet one

In UK lassi is called buttermilk in stores such as Tesco's and Sainsbury!

Although butter milk is quite different and most so better known to those who live on a farm or who have visited villages in countries like Pakistan or India where it is made a home on a regular basis.

For first timers I would suggest the salty one and that too a bit flowy with more water!
