Default Balanced Diet

Its very important to have a balanced diet, as different types of food help parts of the body in certain ways, and also help to grow, repair and maintain the bodies cells and tissues.

Its important to take the right types and the right quantities of food, all depending on your age. The types of food which should be eaten in proportion include meat, fish and other alternatives, milk and dairy products, bread, potato and cereals, fruits and vegetables and also foods which contain fat and sugar. Include a bit of everything in your daily diet and eat the right amount of calories and you will feel better mentally and physically.

During the day having six to eight glasses water is also essential, as this aids in good functioning of the kidneys and bowel movements!

in case some one doesn't have the proper knowledge of the balanced diet that one should take, there are diet charts available in market or you can consult your physician for proper guidance.

Easier said than done. It's easy to say it's important to have a balanced diet-- it's hard to always follow that. At least for me anyway.
I agree, a balanced diet is important to each and every one of us. What is good for one person might not be good for everyone.

I drink at least 8 glasses of water a day- I start right out in the morning drinking water and continue on.

Well, it can be hard if you want to have covered everything, but I personally stick to some simple general rules - like regularly having fresh fruit and veggies, some nuts like walnuts or sunflower seeds, and drinking a lot of water. It is not hard to remember.

I was thinking exactly what Kris wrote~ Easier Said Than Done.

I think that we all know we should have a balanced diet and drink lots of water. The hard part is making that plan and sticking to it.

Especially with these busy times. I am on the run more than I am home anymore after work. It's hard to have a well balanced meal for dinner. Sometimes there is just no time for it. I make sure I eat healthy and always a fruit or veggie for lunch. I also make sure my daughter has a fruit every breakfast and a fruit and a veggie for lunch.

For kids that eat school lunches, they aren't getting a balanced diet. Those lunches are full of fats! Especially in the high schools where they can purchase the chicken fingers, fries and ice creams.

I remember when I was in high school I had lemonade, salt and vinegar chips and an ice cream sandwich every day for lunch!

The only snacks we have in the house are healthy ones, so if my family isn't eathing that good for meals, at least their snacks are healthy.

Whatever you have posted Harpreet is all right, equal quantities in all foods is really important. Whenever I used to go to my dietitian she used to say this, and I thought I cant do this, but its easy and it helps in the long run. You don't need to leave out anything and enjoy what you want, just keep in mind the quantity.

Its easy Krisny, there is nothing difficult about it. Your right in the sense that what is good for one person may not be good for everyone. But it comes to the same point that having a balanced diet for everyone is good, so it means your not going to have a 2 big slices of high sugared cake, or a large portion of chips, instead it should be small portions and once in a while with these kind of things, which don't really do any harm if had the right way.

Well said Jyoti, I agree with Harpreet's post and what you have said also. A little change is not difficult. Ive always been put in the habit of having a balanced diet, which involves a little of everything everyday. For example I had some juice in the morning with oats/cereal and taost, lunch is a sandwich, pasta and juice again, dinner consists of boiled/steamed veg with some fish or chicken. And also Indian food which consists of vegetables, lentils and chapati and some yogurt.
In between I have some dry fruits and fresh fruits too.

Like with every habit you just need to learn the habit. It is said that a new habit takes 6 weeks to form or a bad one six weeks to break. I stopped eating bread a while ago and at first it was difficult to find something to replace it with. Now I'm so use to it that I don't even think about bread.

Hi there! Thanks for mentioning this. I never knew that markets have diet charts. This is going to make it a lot whole easier for me instead of going to a physician.
