Default Oatmeal Diet

I started doing the oatmeal diet 4 months ago and I lost 15 lbs. Of course, I mix them with fruit and zero calorie sweeteners to taste but I don't eat that much meat. Once a month maybe.. But still it works (other diets did not seem to work this fast).. Is anyone doing this type of diet as well?

I've never heard of this diet. What does it involve? Just eating plain oatmeal with fruit for every meal? Or just for breakfast?

I really like oatmeal, but I'm not sure if I could center all of my meals around oatmeal alone. By "sweeteners" do you mean sugar or sugar substitutes? And what else can you add to oatmeal other than fruit?

There was a time when my sister and I were still in school and we had little allowance that led us to eat oatmeal for our meals. Literally breakfast, lunch, and dinner, especially on the weekends. My sister and I never considered it to be a diet but I guess it turned out to be that way because we lost weight. We opted for oatmeal because it was affordable and at least we can alter the taste. But in the long run, since it was our meal for quite some time, we were craving for the 'real meal'. The effects of oatmeal is that it's fiberous and helps your bowel movements too. How long do you think you can last eating oatmeal as a routine?

I can relate to what fortune bee had said. I tried to lose weight by having oatmeal for breakfast just to jump start my metabolism. I heard that these artificial sweeteners have aspartame in it. Are these artificial sweeteners safe?

I don't think that artificial sweeteners are safe. I think it's better to go for something that's natural, like real sugar, but in small doses. Also, regarding the oatmeal, I think it would be easier to stay on the oatmeal diet if you had to eat oatmeal everyday out of necessity.

I have eaten a lot of oatmeal in my life, and I think that would probably be a pretty safe diet, but you must be sure to add other things to your oatmeal. Sounds like you found a really good thing. Thanks for the tips!

I think oatmeal must be getting a little boring. Here's what my mom does. My mom usually gives me a very balanced and colourful breakfast. and she makes it a point that it has got atleast one of my favourite things. Like when she plans to make vegetable daliya then it is usually clubbed with my favourite SIL juice- mango flavour. When I beg her to make cheesy club sandwich then she makes sure that i have a glass of milk with it :P
