Talking Dietary Habits

1) We generally overeat.
2) We eat titbits too often.
3) Our dependence on junk foods is increasing.
4) We are being misled by advertisments and adopting faulty food habits.
5) Snacks made of refined flour (maida) are occupying a greater proportion of space in our diet, e.g. burgers, samosas, kachori, pastries

All the yummiest things are the worst for us. I'm always craving sweets and caffeine.. everything else just seems so boring. However, when I eat the way I have been, I don't feel very energetic and I sleep a lot. I don't want to do much and time just kinda passes me by.

Having healthy dietary habits takes a lot of discipline. Even though I also crave things that are not necessarily good for me, I have learned to stay away from them, as I prefer accomplishing many things during the day, rather than regretting it tomorrow, which is pretty much what happens when I don't pay attention to what I eat. Though it is possible to instill the good habits into our life style once the decision to increase the quality of our lives is made.

I have seriously been letting my diet go over recent months and I look horrible and feel sluggish so things are going to have to change soon before I find it too hard to get back into a healthier lifestyle.

A lot depends on how we were raised, too. I was fortunate to grow up in a family where eating healthy was a priority - mostly homemade meals with lots of vegetables. That's normal to me, and when I indulge in fast food or pizza, I know I am doing something wrong. Now, imagine someone who grew up with parents who ate mostly junk food. That's normal to them. They might learn that it is not healthy, and what a healthy diet is supposed to be like, but it is hard to change from what you have known all your life.

I wish my mom would have been there more for me to cook dinner. There were times that she would be at work and she'd walk me through a meal on the phone. We had chicken a lot, but other than that, I was buying my own food because I didn't like hers, or she didn't have much. That may be part of the reason I'm so into sweets
