Default Cabbage Soup Diet

I want to lose a bit of weight and have heard a lot of things about the cabbage soup diet for a long time now, but never looked into it. This is what the diet consists of:

Eating as much soup as you want for 7 days, and in a week you can lose anything between 10 to 15 pounds. The key is that cabbage a low calorie and this is what the soup consists of including onions, tomatoes and tomato juice.

The following must be eaten on each day in order to do the cabbage soup diet

Day One:
Eat only fruit, all the fruit you want except banana.
Drink unsweetened tea, black coffee, cranberry juice, and water.
Eat as much soup as you like.

Day Two:
All you want - fresh, raw, or cooked vegetables of your choice. Stay away from dry beans, peas, and sweet corn. Reward yourself with a big baked potato with butter for dinner. Eat as much soup as you like but no fruit for today.

Day Three:
Combine days one and two, eat as much fruit, vegetables, and soup, as you like but no baked potato.

Day Four:
Eat as many as eight bananas and drink as many glasses of skim milk as you would like on this day, along with your soup. This day is supposed to lessen your desire for sweets.

Day Five:
You may have 10-20 ounces of beef (300-500g) and a large tin or up to six fresh tomatoes. Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water this day to wash the uric acid from your body. Eat your soup at least once today. You may eat broiled or baked chicken (skinless) instead of beef. If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef.

Day Six:
Eat beef and vegetables today. You can even have two or three steaks if you like, with fresh vegetables or salad. NO BAKED POTATO. Eat your soup at least once.

Day Seven:
Eat all you want of brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices, and vegetables. Be sure to eat your soup at least once to day. No bread, alcohol, or carbonated beverages, not even diet soda.

If any of you know someone who has tried this or your yourself have tried it, please let know of what the results were like

That's a very nice post. I think you would really lose some pounds if you would be taking more liquids everyday. I hope this would be effective for me. Would I be able to see the result after one week only? It excites me a lot.

The cabbage soup diet is a popular method to lose weight, and some of my friends did try it, and they lost something between 7-10llbs in a week. It depends on ones body on how much you lose and also the amount of exercise you do with the diet!

I have not heard of this diet before... Has anyone tried making such cabbage soup? How does it taste? I make borshch, the famour beet & cabbage soup, I love it, but I'm not sure it can work as a replacement...

I think that liquids are good for the body. You do have to be careful of the sugar content in beverages. Drinking water is the best liquid. It does not have any calories. I tend to eat less when I drink more.

Exercise is key to lose weight. We gain weight when we take in more than we burn. Some people do not like the word "exercise" but you can just call being more "active" and get the same results. I try to walk rather than drive whenever I can. I wasn't able to walk today; however, I played catch football indoors with my son.

I remember my mother going on the cabbage soup diet all the time. I think that it does work for the time you are on it, but you have to remember to keep eating healthy and exercise once off the diet too.

I tried this diet a few years back and it was totally gross. I did it for the whole duration and ended up regretting it - it made me irritable and also gave me diarrhea. I can't speak for other people, but I think there are much more pleasant ways to lose weight than stuffing one's self with cabbage soup.

This is interesting. How do you cook the cabbage soup? It's easy to follow the steps
I read also in other forums that they don't recommend this diet.
Though, different person have different ideas on different diet plans.
good luck!

I guess a lot depends on whether you like cabbage or not. I dislike most of cooked vegetables, and I used to dislike cabbage as well, but then I had found a few ways to cook it that tastes good. I'd need to try this soup before I can tell whether I can survive on this diet.
