We women always think about our family and kids, and always give our preferences to our kids, husband, and family. But the fact is that most of the Indian women dont take care of her diets, and also most of the women are anemic and suffers from osteopenic and osteoporosis as there is a lack of calcium, iron and other nutrients. So, we women should also take out some time for ourselves and have calcium and iron rich food, like almonds, milk, fruits, seasame seeds etc... |

Wonmen must consult their doctor and at a certain point in age should start taking some kind of supplements like calcium sandose as their body especially bones are mostly effected due to age.

Its true jessika, at a certain age women should consult a doctor regarding supplements and all, but when it comes to taking the right food which have high contents of calcium and iron its ok to go ahead.

I agree. Most women today as they reach the age of 40 begins to lose their bone density leading to a condition called osteoporosis. Bones then become fragile and may easily crack. One preventive measure would be vitamin supplements such as calcium. |

PLEASE ladies, consult your doctor before taking iron supplements, or even increasing the amount of iron in your diet. Today's foods are over enriched with iron, and not everyone requires it.. NEVER increase your iron consumption without first having a blood test. Some people are prone to having IRON RICH BLOOD because their bodies naturally absorb more iron and taking extra iron will cause major health complications.

Yes calcium and iron is very essential for ladies. Most of the women suffer from calcium and iron deficiency. To overcome this we have to take iron and calcium rich food items. Simply take milk and dates or date syrup daily.I think Iron rich peoples are very rare.

Calcium is very important to take as you get older. It helps keep your bones nice and strong. I don't like milk products, so I have to take calcuim every day. I would definitely check with your doctor on the iron. When I take a multivitamin with iron in it, the iron makes me sick. I have to make sure to have a multivitamin for older woman that doesn't contain iron. |

Definitely, we, women need vitamin supplements especially those in their golden years like me. However, I agree that a doctor's advice is needed before taking any type of vitamins to prevent overdose. We must remember that too much of anything is also bad for our health.

I always take my supplements daily. We also need to drink milk at least one glass a day. In my case, I usually drink two glasses a day. During my breakfast and before I go to bed. How about you? |

I hated milk since I was a teen but I love putting milk over my chocolate drink. Sounds weird huh. Hmm about that iron rich diet I wonder what kind of food is rich in iron. I take ferrous sulfate because I'm low blood.

I think that could be said for women all over the world. We need the iron especially because of our period. Since we are losing the blood, we have to make up for the iron by ingesting iron-rich foods or even supplements. Calcium is important, too. Many women in Canada suffer from osteoporosis as well...

It's surprising how many women don't get enough calcium. Why is it that young girls don't like milk? I was the same way when I was younger, but now, I love dairy. There's so much dairy: milk, cheese, butter, yogurt, cream, ice cream, etc.
