Default Slim Fast

Has anyone tried Slim Fast? What are your thoughts on it?
I am trying to start dieting again and would like to loose about 5 pounds before I go on the healthy eating/exercise way. I am looking for a jump start and thought I'd try slim fast.

Hey,
Slim Fast is a wierd one that I tried during a summer holiday when I was a teenager. I lost a fair amount of weight but don't think I could do it again now that I'm working. Although they technically have enough to keep you going, they don't have much substance to them so you get hungry again very very quickly and your 'big filler' isn't until dinner. It's biggest advantage is convenience as you could easily plan meals with the same calories but with complex carbs or lots of fibre so you don't feel hungry as quickly. THings I found helpful were to go for their pastas rather than shakes and to have my 600 cal meal at lunchtime and anothe slimfast meal at dinner to stave off hunger. Don't know about you but I'm so cranky when I'm hungry, my family pretty much ignored me for this fortnight!

I haven't heard very good things about Slim Fast. I thought they made the people who drink the shakes gain even more weight. Maybe it's a psychological thing?

So far I have lost just a couple of pounds, but have only been on slim fast for 2 days. It keeps me full until the next meal. I am only taking it for breakfast though. Then trying to eat healthy the other 2 meals.

I have tried slim fast, but I find it being the drink with my meal instead of actually being the meal. If your disciplined it can work though, and it fills you up for a while too.

I have not tried it myself, but from what I've heard, the biggest problem and the biggest reason why the shakes wouldn't work is that many people don't have the dicsipline to take one instead of a meal. They drink the shakes and have snacks or meals. Of course it wouldn't work.

I tried it a long time ago, and it does leave you hungry most of the time. It doesn't keep you full and that makes you want to snack. I don't know, maybe if I drank lots of water. But then I would have to go to the restroom all the time.

I have tried slim-fast and had great results.

They do not suggest "shake for breakfast, shake for lunch, sensible dinner" anymore.

They now suggest a shake with a 1/2 turkey sandwich, or something along those lines.

go to slimfast.com and sign up, they will make you a personalized plan and give lots of support. good luck!

trinale: good for you!
I tried this one too but i didn't lose weight because i would always get hungry. I ended up drinking the shakes and then eating more.

I think the key to SlimFast is to drink the low carb version. I've found it more effective in controlling my hunger between meals. I think this is because it has more protein (28g) than the Optima formula (3g).
