Default Dusting

For a clean and lovely house, dusting is very important. Dust is something which can creep in to even the rarest corner of your house, so don't miss on dusting. On good instrument for dusting is the static duster which attracts all the dust to it and doesn;t let it escape.

I find dusting very very tedious work.

I agree with you Busy Bee, it feels so un-productive to me - the task seems to be never done. I like to see results of my work, and with all other cleaning I do: clean sink, floor, bathroom, etc. But dusting - the moment I'm done, I see more dust somewhere. Agh.

I hate to dust. I do feel that my house isn't clean until it is dusted though.

Here is my question....do you dust first or vacuum? If you dust first, then when you vacuum them dust flies back in the air. If you vacuum first, then the dust falls back on the ground when you dust.

I dust and then vacuum... If you vacuum first you can put stuff on the floor again from dusting. To be honest, it's my daughters job in her chore list. So she dusts first.
I hate to do also- we heat our home with a wood stove- so it's always dusty- It's a chore to keep it clean. I find myself dusting every other day in some areas of the house.

I don't dust. I wipe away the dirt using a damp cloth and finish it with a dry cloth. I feel it's cleaner that way.

I used to dust and when I dust, the dirt only goes to the air and fall all over back to place or to other places. Then it's dusty again.

I hate dusting and I have every duster on the market, I have dusted and an hour later it's back again, I hate that the crevices gather dust so quickly and I get fed up dusting day in day out. I don't think I have a static duster, not sure even what one looks like but I'll definitely be on the look out for one.

I also hate dusting, and especially being in a cit like Delhi you always find dust. I sometimes dust in the morning and by the after you would find dust again, therefore its important to dust everyday in the house, and i think this applies to every household in India.

I have tried using a static duster but it doesn't remove most of the dirt. I'm not a fan of it. I still believe wiping with a damp cloth cleans better.

I have a pet cat, and it only has made matters worse . I guess without a vaccum cleaner, its next to impossible to clean it. As for wet cloth, you cannot possibly use it everywhere, but its a good solution.

I don't like the static duster either. I use pledge and a cloth once a week. On other days during the week I will find myself grabbing baby wipes to dust here and there.

I do love the smell of the house once everything has been dusted.

i actually hate dusting because i have dust allergies. but whenever my mom would ask me to clean up, i would usually wipe dusty stuff with a damp cloth, and wipe it again with a dry cloth. do you think using that static duster is much better than what i do?

Ya know...I have a friendly view of dust...it is nature's protective covering! When I absolutely need to get rid of it, I use a swiffer...

It even seems to get worse in the winter. I dust twice a week and truth be told, I absolutely hate doing it. At least I don't keep any little knick-knacks around the house though. Those collect dust more than anything else and it is a pain to clean them up.

Default Dusting

Yeah i agree with honey berry.

Using dusters does not do good. My duster is cotton cloth.

I think that the dust seems to be worse in the winter because the furnace is running. It has to blow out all that dust that has accumulated in there all Sring and Summer.

I also hate dusting. But it's something I can never do without because I am allergic to dust. Its not a problem when my mother is at home because she does the dusting for me. Now that I will be alone for a while, I have no other choice but to do it regularly.

Do you not find that your cats are the ultimate static dusters though? Mine climb on top of bookshelves, behind cupboard and under beds, everywhere I wouldn't think to dust and they come out so dusty there can't possibly be any left there still

If there's a crevice where a lot of dust has collected it's soooo much easier to bust it with the hoover nozzle attachment otherwise yeah it just flies all over the place again.

Yeah, dust will come as soon as we clean it. But somehow I enjoy dusting. I like to find how different my furniture looks after I dust it. Well, I now it will not stay clean for long and I will need to dust it again, but I still enjoy it

We have three cats, they are shorthair, but they do shed some, so it takes some extra work to keep the house clean. I use damp clothes a lot, mostly on furniture - it is efficient in getting all the cat hair and dust off. Then there's regular vacuuming, too. If you don't let things go, the house stays in a decent shape.

I have one of those and they are AMAZING!! I dunno what I ever did without the thing!!! I don't like dusting.. I always get overly obsessed with it and end up completely rearranging my house in the progress lol!!

Dusting just seems to scatter the dust. I have not found a duster that does a good job. With my allergies, I make an effort not to purchase much furniture, especially wood. The less you have the less to dust.

Sometimes when I'm being lazy, I will use baby wipes or disinfectant wipes on all surfaces, that way, I'm cleaning and dusting at the same time. I figure, it can't hurt. I haven't ruined anything so far...
