Do you ever use dry flowers? When my husband brings me roses, I often let them dry up and then use them for decoration somewhere in the house.

I love fresh flowers. When I go to the store and see them I always pick up a fresh bouquet to put on the table. I also love wild flowers. My daughter will go and pick them for me in the summer and we use them to brighten up the house.

Every week my room do have flowers, whenever i go to church i buy flowers and i arrange it the way i like it. Flowers definitely gives life to a house and can makes me happy just by seeing them in a corner. I like roses but i don't usually buy them because they withered like 2-3 days.

Default Flowers

I love flowers especially roses. I have planted almost all kinds of roses.

I too have other varieties of flowers. But it is difficult to maintain them properly.

Just today a bunch of little ones were outside picking flowers for me. They don't realize that they have to pick the stem too, so I took a shallow bowl and put them in their floating on the water. It looks really cute.

I like to put flowers from my garden in vases inside the house. I like the long lasting ones best like the heliconias and the anthuriums. They last for about 5 to 7 days in the vases.

We don't have flowers in the garden so I would buy it in the flower shop. Fresh flowers are my favorite however, it's quite expensive. I wanted to learn how to arrange it but I don't know where to start. Do you know some basic rule for flower arrangement?

Hi Bethoven,
I had found the following article and bookmarked it for future reference. I never got to try it out but it might give you a good start for your arrangements. It is from http://www.dotcomwomen.com - There is also nice images that can inspire you as well. I hope you'll enjoy it

All good flower arrangements have 'pleasing proportions' which means it looks comfortable within the size, shape and style of container.

If you are showing a single perfect bloom in a bud vase then you can disregard all but the first rule.

These are the basic rules for good flower arranging:

1. Low arrangements should be a little wider than their container.
Tall arrangements should be 1 1/2 to 2 times taller than their container.
2. If your arrangement has a theme choose or make a container big enough to hold your arrangement.
3. Put enough oasis in the base to fill it up level with the top of the container. Cut off any that goes above the lip of the container.
4. Imagine an invisible outline of the shape you want to create and chose which side will be the front of your arrangement.
5. Choose your tallest and widest flowers and arrange them in your container first within the outline of your chosen shape.
6. Fill in around the base and lower part of the arrangement with more large blooms.
7. Working up and outward user smaller blooms or filler to fill in the arrangement.
8. Use the smallest blooms, foliage and filler to hide stems, oasis and the edge of container.

I think it's really pretty to have flowers on your kitchen table, in your windows and above your fireplace if you have on. It just adds to much life and color to your home. Plus, it smells amazing!! I like to mix it up. I have mostly fake flowers, that way I don't have to worry about them dying on me lol!! I keep the fresh ones for the living room, somewhere that I can enjoy them everyday
