I am currently reading, The Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne; The Message of the Psalms by Walter Brueggemann and Great American Short Stories from Hawthorne to Hemingway. "The Irresistible Revolution" is about living life the way Jesus did by focusing on showing love, especially to the outcasts of life, such as those in poverty, sickness and oppression. "The Message of the Psalms", is an examination of the reality of the Psalms from a theological perspective. "Great American Short Stories from Hawthorne to Hemingway", the title speaks for itself. It also contains authors such as Edgar Allan Poe, Herman Melville, Samuel Langhorne Clemens (Mark Twain) and F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Right now, I'm reading "Storm Front" by Jim Butcher. It's the first book in the Dresden Files series. I like reading books that have had movies or shows based on them.

I am currently reading The New Testament in the Bible and about to read The fall of Pastor Barry by Whitney Brooks. (The fall is Christian fiction by the way! But it can really happen. I'm excited because there isn't many Christian fiction books out there.) But I just got done reading By The Light Of The Moon By Dean Koontz.

I just started reading a book called "Wolf Rider" by Avi. It's a book written for young adults, but I still found the description of the story to be really interesting. It's very short and easy to read, so I should be finished very soon.

I can see that everybody likes to read. How did you know your favorite author? I mean, were they popular or something? I read books but I don't have favorite author. As for me, I am currently reading "What To Expect When You Are Expecting". It's very informative. Since my sister is giving birth by the end of the year, I joined her in reading the book.

That sounds like an interesting book. By the way, who is its author? It would be nice to have it as a gift for my friend's birthday. She is one month pregnant and that would be perfect for her.

I just got started reading Haruki Murakami's "Wild Sheep Chase" a few days ago. It's strange, but I can't bring myself to say that it's boring. It's one of those books that's hard to tell what it's really about. I remember reading the book at the library during my high school years, and my impression of the novel hasn't changed.

I'm currently reading "Life with Billy." A book about a severe case of spousal abuse that happened close to where I'm from. The wife and kids lived for five years with a monster until she shot him to death. The things this man did to his family are unspeakable. It's really hard to read at some points, and to think that a person can be this evil. This happened in the early 80's, and at that time beating your wife was acceptable to a lot of people and spousal abuse wasn't something that was spoken about (at least not around here) . Jane's court case, she shot him and years later killer herself, helped to broaden the legal definition of self-defence, and she was one of a handful of nationally prominent women who spoke out about abuse they had suffered. I really think that all women need to be aware of spousal abuse and understand that it's not always physical, however it usually starts out with verbal or emotional and escalates as time passes. In this story, he abused her sexually, verbally, physically. He abused his child (even when he was an infant.) I'm going to get off of my "soapbox" now, but I encourage all women to speak out if someone is abusing you or disrespecting you in anyway. It is not your fault and nobody has the right to berate anyone else. Please read this book, if you can stomach it. Some people question how she could stay with him for 5 years when he wasn't only abusing her, but also her child. All I can say is that we can't judge other people. No one knows how she felt, or how afraid she was. A lot of women, in fact most, will stay with the abuser out of fear, helplessness, Stockholm Syndrome, feeling ashamed or that maybe no one will believe them. Anyway... it's a good book (true story) and really opened my eyes to the hell that some people live in. |

Now that I've finished reading "Wolf Rider," I can concentrate on reading the novel by Murakami. It just got interesting. After forty something pages, I think I finally arrived to the main plot of the story. I'm glad; I was considering giving up.
