Author Jim Corbett
Do you like adventure stories? Anybody who likes adventure stories will love the works by Jim Corbett. The fact that his books are all his true experiences and not just fiction add to the charm of his works.
Jim Corbett was born in Nainital, in the pre-independent India. From a young age, he loved the jungle that surrounded his house and spend hours there observing the various animals' behavior. Later in his life, when he started hunting man eaters, this learning from child hood was his greatest asset.
Corbett has hunted and killed more than a dozen man eaters. The fact that he used to do this on his foot in the darkness of night tells us what a brave man he was.
Later in his life, Corbett decided to kill only for food or only if the animal is very dangerous. When he witnessed the decreasing number of the wild animals in his well-loved jungles he sounded alarm about it and worked for the preservation of animals.
Personally, I admire Jim Corbett's behavior towards his fellow beings. He deeply loved and cared for every villager who lived in the backward regions where he usually went on his hunting journeys. He could speak their dialect fluently and could understand there customs and traditions. He respected the poorest and weakest and tried his best to help them have a safer place to live by killing even the deadliest man eaters. This, I feel shows what a great humanitarian he was.
