Default Fiction or Nonfiction?

Which do you prefer to read, fiction or nonfiction? I prefer fictional stories because they are usually more interesting, but I do enjoy a few reference books, mostly books about writing.

I'm also fond of reading fictional stories, it's very appealing to me. But I sometimes prefer non-fictions, specially autobiographies of different persons.

I prefer non-fiction stories, especially those adventure stories and those fantasy stories. It brings out the child in me. And most often those books inspire me.

Adventure and fantasy would be fiction mamabear.

I love fiction, too, I want my imagination soar. My husband, on the other hand, prefers non-fiction. He wants facts.

I love fiction! The only time I really read non-fiction is if I'm doing some kind of research or if I'm reading the biography of a person that I'm interested in.

Who says that fiction is all made up? A lot of fiction takes things from real life while incorporating the author's imagination. I like how fiction doesn't limit itself with the same rules that apply to real life.

Oh yes, I have read novels based on true true stories or historical events. You have to keep in mind though that it is a novel and not an accurate, factual account. Things might have been added or changed.

In writing class, we're taught that fiction has to make sense whereas real life does not. I don't know. I think even fiction should be allowed to get very weird every once in awhile.

This is just personal taste, but fiction has to be authentic. I'm not saying that exciting, strange things can't happen to the characters, but I still want the characters to be believeable.

I want the characters to be believable, too, but the situations should at least be interesting. If they are too close to everyday life, won't it just be boring?
