I hate to be one of those people that say, "The book was better" after watching a movie, but I've found that to usually be true. Does anyone know why? I saw "Jumper" then read the book, and found that the book was so much better.

| I think the book is better, because you really get lost in it. You create your own characters in your mind.. you visualize everything. A movie does it all for you.. and doesn't let you be as creative

I think the book is better because it tells the story in details. They say that in movies it would tend to skip or change some scenes. However, the content is still the same. Have you read the Twilight? Are there some changes?

I agree with Kyles. When you read the book, you would observe that the story is detailed. I don't really read books but my friend does. She said that there were some scenes omitted in the Harry Potter when she have seen it in movie. I am not sure what it was. Anyway, if you are to choose, would you read first the book or watch it immediately?

Im not much of a book reader, so stick to movies, but my friends who read the books first of movies related to them, always say that the book was better and the movie didnt live up to the book, which is another reason I dont bother reading the books! |

I guess the book is better because the writer thought it up, and wrote it with passion. The movie is usually written by a screenwriter, someone who probably doesn't care about the story as much. I don't like when the movie makes changes simply for the reason that the audience might respond to a different character better.

I have loved books ever since I was a kid, and while I also love a good movie, I agree that the book is usually better. I think one of the reasons is that as you read, you re-create the story in your mind - picture the characters, scenery, etc. Then when you see the movie, those pictures might not match the ones in your head, and you feel disappointed. Also, it is always frustrating when good parts of the book are skipped in the film.

Yeah, I guess nothing can compare to the awesome power of our own imaginations. The movie also disappoints a lot of the book's fans because they try to add on to the story. The screenwriter will put something in that wasn't in the book at all.
