Have you ever seen a movie then found out that it was based on a book and wanted to read it? Right now, I really want to read "No Country for Old Men." I saw the movie and really enjoyed it. I only hope that the book is just as good.

Yes, I saw Confessions of a Shopoholic and then found out there is a whole series of books behind the movie. From what I've been told though, that movie is only very loosely based on the book.

Yes, it has happened to me several times. I prefer reading the book first, but sometimes, especially with a newer story, you don't even know it is based on a book. Movies always inspire me to read the book behind it. It often turns out a little different, sometimes quite different. Makes you wonder how the author feels about all the changes.

Generally movies are based on books, so I havent really had any problem, as in the case of popular movies and books the movie comes out later, for example just like Da Vinci Code, Harry Potter etc! I have always preferred the books, but its also good to visualize the whole story in form of a movie! |

| I've never saw a movie before reading the book. Not really by choice, but just cuz it kinda just happened that way.

It was the same way when my mom found out that the TV show, "Lipstick Jungle" was based on a book. I'm not sure if she'll ever get around to reading it; the book's about 600 pages, I think.

| I find books more appealing. I mean, movies are great and I love to watch em over and over, but's it's always so nice to sit down and just get completely lost in a book. Maybe it's just me with my OCD.. reading helps me focus and truly calm my brain. It's nice

I agree. The idea of getting up and close with a book is more intimate, too. You can get inside of a character's head. That's not normally done with a movie unless there's a voice over or a narrator. Books will let you peak inside the head of serveral characters, unlike movies.

If the book is boring but I'm required to know the story, I'd rather watch the movie. But if the book is interesting then I'd choose the book any time. Of course, I wouldn't mind watching the movie too. Most movies that were based on books don't really follow the exact storyline and this irritates me specially when I really liked the book. I feel like the story's been murdered when that happens. |

I think only on a few occasions I've been disappointed by the book despite absolutely loving the movie that was made. Those are really unusual cases though. It's just so much easier to disappoint with a movie than with a book.
