There are so many authors, and most people have their best or favorites, I personally don't have a favorite, but have a couple who's books I really love every time and they include authors like Stephen King, Sidney Sheldon, Paulo Coelho, James Patterson and recently started reading the work of Khaled Hosseini, which is excellent. Who according to you is the best or your favorite author or authors? |

Paulo Coelho and Sidney Sheldon are definitely my favourites as well. They are very different but both excellent writers. I enjoy Arthur Hailey as well but he can be a bit too discriptive sometimes. Jeffrey Archer has some nice books as well. There are more but I can't think of names now.

Stephen King's on my list, too! I love books with the kinds of epic stories that you can really get into... I fell in love with George R.R. Martin's Song of Fire and Ice series the first time I read it. He's a master of low fantasy, and does some really, really amazing stuff - it's completely forgivable that it takes him so long to write a book! Also love my British authors... Douglas Adams, of course, Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. I haven't found anyone who can top them for creativity, amazing characters, storylines that just grab you, and those lines that just make you laugh out loud. |

It is interesting to see which authors other people like. Sometimes I'm weary of buying a book of an author who is unknown to me. My sister introduced me to Lydia La Plante. I would never have looked at her books but they are actually great. I have a Stephen King book at home but never read it. Maybe I should give it a try.

I read many books written by Sidney Sheldon, and yes, he is one of my favorite authors. I love surprising ending of all his novels. He create strong characters in his novels and describe the characters really detailedly.

Novels and authors come and go, and at certain periods in our lives, an author becomes a favorite. As I grew older, (and wiser) I have become more discerning (I hope). My all time favorite author is Kahlil Gibran.

Francine Rivers is my absolute favorite of all time. Cathy Marie Hake and Lori Wick are also a few of my favorites to read. You can always count of their books being good.

Before I was able to read the books of John Grisham before i turned to a different category of reading. With John Grisham he seems to turn things so lively that you are not sure as to whether you are reading a book or you are actually experiencing what is written in the novel. I really love his works.
