The Alchemist has a very simple plot with a brilliant message without you ever feeling the author is trying to push his idea down your throat. It quick and easy reading and stay with you forever.

It is possible that there is a movie. It should be interesting to see if it has the same impact as the book. Sometimes the movie doesn't work as well as the book. I loved reading The Little Prince, for instance, but could never finish the movie. It was just not how I imagined it.

There had been talks about a movie, but it's stalled, so I don't think there'll be a movie unless someone else does it. There's a few problems with the script.
