Default Nutrition for Children

Our kids do not eat well and we keep running after them with their bowls of food. One thing always comes in our mind ‘are our children consuming enough nutrition?” You may always think that your child is becoming unhealthy. If you follow these rules you may take care of your child’s nutritional balance. As this is a stage where physical and mental grow and development of the child is taking place, they may at times feel so hungry that they will ask for food themselves and at time will eat very less. Children watch what you are eating. So if you want them to eat healthy then please include highly nutritious food in your diet. You and your child’s daily diet requires proteins so include peas, eggs, beans, fish, chicken, meat, milk, yogurt and cheese. For Carbohydrates eat more wholegrain rice, pasta, corn and bread. Introduce a lot of Vegetable and Fruits like broccoli, green beans, carrots, sweet potato, tomatoes, spinach, and cucumber, peaches, apricots, pears and apples. When you feed your kid try giving the green vegetables first. Do not get bothered if you kid is not eating well. He will ask for it when the hunger strikes.

Thankfully my 19 month old has a great appetite. I don't think there is anything she will not eat. She loves her fruit and vegetables, steamed fish and rice.

I just hope she does not change.

You are one lucky mom bubble! Most parents complain that their kids carefully avoid anything that is healthy, LOL. I think if you train them to eat veggies and such early, as you did, they develop a taste for it.

I ate salads and other healthy side dishes since I was a kid, and to me, that food was "normal," I simply did not know that you can stuff yourself with pizza alone.

I think if kids are shown how to eat right when they're younger, they'll be so used to it and like a habit, they'll continue eating well. I never ate well as a kid, and I never have since then. It's just not something I'm used to. I love sweets and carbs

Yes, I am lucky. Both my girls do eat well, but my eight year old does has a real interest in food and of what is bad for you and good for you.

She knows all about how to keep a healthy heart and why it is important to eat her vegetables, but she does like her cakes and chocolate too.

I never was a person who ate their vegetables willingly, and I'm pretty much the same way. I just don't like to eat food if I don't think it tastes or smells good. I'll eat some vegetables and fruits, but a lot of my childhood eating habits have stayed with me.

Its also a good idea to determining food allergies if any for children. Example lactose intolerance, etc hence such food must be avoided as they will do more harm than good on child's health.
