Default How important are name brands exactly?

I use to be obsessed with name brand. Not just limited to prada and dolce & Gabana but Express, Gap, Abercrombie ect. Now it just doesn't seem important. If it looks good I wear it. I don't live at Walmart or anything but I'm mostly a Kohl's shopper. Am I the only one who'd rather save the cash for more important things?

I don't think it's worth it. I mean, sure, from time to time it may be fun if you see something that's REALLY cute, but other than that, no. I would rather buy what I like, not buy something for the name. That doesn't make any sense to me.

I buy only if I think it’s worth it. I collect few branded fashion wear for occasions every few months. I also enjoy shopping at street sales like the ones at Bandra Linking Road in Mumbai which is actually quite a well known place. You get good clothing & accessories range with many varieties at an affordable prices. I just purchased an Osho slippers for 100bucks ($2) few days back.

Name brands don't always mean quality. It just means that they can charge you more for the same stuff that was made by some kid in a third world country just because a certain designer's name was on the tag. I always say forget the name brands...unless they are on clearance.

Quality and style is what I care for, and just like hirami says, a famous brand does not always mean that. If I see a no-name high quality item I like, I'd rather buy that.

I know plenty of people find brands important; well, it's their choice. And their money, too.

I also hate buying stuffs just because of its brand I would never waste money for that. I can see some shoppers here even if the design is so so lame they would still buy it because of the brand. That's just pathetic.
