Have you ever had to give a pet away for what ever reason ? how did it make you feel and would you recommend any tips for people who have pets and find now that they can no longer care for them ? Is it bad for people to give their pets away ?

I don't think it's a bad thing to give a pet away, I mean if you really need to then you're thinking about the best option for the pet. The advise I would give for someone who has to give a pet away would be to give it to someone who you know and trust if you can. As a last resort, I would try looking online for people who are wanting pets. However, this option would make me quite nervous! I can't even imagine what that must feel like to have to get rid of a pet! I love my little babies and it would just break my heart!! Recently, I thought we were going to have to get rid of our newest addition to the family because he's a little yipper and freaks out any time we leave the house. Luckily, he's calmed down quite a bit and I've found a babysitter to watch him while we aren't at home... finding a sitter is a great option to help keep a baby!! |

I have never done this and I'd like to think that I never would, because it is such a stress for the poor animal to suddenly lose their family. I understand that in some cases people have no choice, they have to find a new home for their pets. Those who do their best to place the animal well or at least take them to a shelter have my sympathy. Those who just throw them out on the street are bad people.

I don't think it's a bad thing to give your pets away, especially if you think they are going to a better home, or to someone who can provide for them better. We had a dog who had two sets of puppies, we reared all the dogs and then gave them away to good home where they were cared for and have provided much happiness to the people they have gone on to live with. |

| Sadly, I just moved states away from my puppies and I'm not allowed to have them with me. Luckily, my dad has really grown to love them because when I was working, he'd always take them to his house so they weren't alone at my apartment. I miss them!! I wanna cry just thinking about them! |

I had to part with my dear cat last year when I relocated to the other side of the country. I felt very guilty about it as I loved my kiddy very much. But thankfully, my ex mother-in-law decided to adopt him and he didn't have to go to a shelther or another stranger. I am back to my hometown now but since he got used to my ex mother-in-law and she did to him, there was no way I could take him back. I still feel bad about this whole thing; nevertheless, I accept that it was not such a horrible thing after all, as he is very much loved and well taken care of.

Although parting with a loved one s traumatic for both human and pet, I believe what eases the pain and helps to make everyone feel better as quickly as possible is to ensure that your pet goes to someone who loves him/her and who will provide good care for him/her. Pets respond to love and if you know your pet is secure and well taken are of, that will bring you ease of mind and heart.
