Default My dog had to have stitches

We live in the country and my dog loves to run. She was in the woods and we heard something fighting with her. When we finally got her out, she had a huge chunk taken out of her lower back

We took her to the vet and she had to stay there for 2 nights. They had to put drains in and gave her stitches. They said it looked like either a racoon or coyote got her

She is home now on rest for 2 weeks.

Has anyone elses pet gotten in a fight with another animal?

Once i have put stitches to my dog, after fighting with another dog,
My dog killed the other dog as it was a bit smaller, but before dieing it bit my dog and had to treat him for rabies and put stitches on his shoulder

Aww, poor doggie. I am glad to hear that he is home and recovering. We had a dog killed by a bunch of stray dogs once. He was supposed to stay in the yard, but he'd managed to escape, several times. Once he was hit by a car, but apparently he did not learn the lesson.

She isn't doing well with these stitches. She keeps biting at them. I think that they actually had to stretch her skin to stitch it together because of the huge gap that was left.

I am debating on wether to call the vet again or just let it heal however it heals.

Your poor baby!! How is she doing now?

I have an akita/chow mix named Zoey and I'm not sure what it is about her, but other dogs love to pick on her. They will chase her and bite her and pin her down on the ground. Luckily, my dad has been with me every time this has happened. It' really scary!!

My baby is easy to knock over now because a few months back, she had a stroke (I'll call it, because it's confusing) and she's never been the same. She wasn't able to walk or move AT ALL for an entire month. I literally had to hand feed her, because she couldn't even turn her head. And, I gave her water through a little eye dropper thingy. It was really hard to take her for walks, because she was just dead weight. My dad always had to help me. She weighs like 40-50 lbs and we got a harness so we could take her out.

It was the saddest thing to sit there and watch her be in so much pain. So many people were telling me to put her down, but there was NO way. I was determined and completely ready to help her the rest of her life. I could tell she was still happy because whenever I came near her, her tail would wag like crazy. After a month, more body parts started working.

She'll never be the same, but she's better and I lover her. Sadly, she randomly falls on her face as she's walking or running because her front leg is really weak. I massage it all the time and I think it really helps.

I honestly feel that she healed because she knew she was loved and she didn't want to give up. I used to sit over her, putting my hands over her body and I would close my eyes, trying to send any healing energy that I could to her. Strange thing is, I SWEAR it worked!! I could feel my body getting weak. I believe in stuff like that.

What do you think??
