Default Snake as a pet

There was someone from work who once came from abroad and he said he kept a snake as a pet. As soon as i heard that, i thought how weird!
He said he has had it for a year and its like a part of the family and he actually kept it as interest and liked it a lot.
I asked him what he gives him to eat and he told me rats, he told me he keeps them in the freezer and gives them to the snake when its time.......yuk!!

Sorry no offense to anyone who has a snake as a pet, they are nice to look at but i would not personally keep them as a pet.

yuk indeed. How can the snake eat the frozen rat? He should
atleast thaw it in the microwave.

i presume the fridge with rats are separated with their personal fridge. lol can't imagine how gross that is. Why not make a cage for the rats and let the snake eat live rats.

When my son was in high school, he had a snake as a pet. It was horrible! I wouldn't go into his bedroom it freaked me out so much. One night it got loose and I woke up all of my other kids and told them to search the house. No one was going to bed until that snake was caught and in it's aquarium. My son found it in my office!!

Well it finally died We went on vacation and forgot to leave the heat lamp on for it. My house stunk when we got home, but it was so worth it!

Migael im sure that no one keeps venomous snakes in their homes, the ones which can be kept at home for pets generally have their venom taken out, otherwise im sure it would be very dangerous to keep snakes in the house.

You may find it weird, guys. One of my friend told me that they have a family of snake. I mean, her grandmother's mother had a twin, which is a snake. Had you ever encountered with this situation? I can't really imagined it how can a person give birth a snake?

I would've loved to have a snake as a pet but I have a feeling they must require a certain special care besides being fed with rats. Thus, I will stick to having cats instead.

No one could take care a snake unless he is an expert. This kind of pet is quite dangerous. For sure, there would be lots things to remember before we have it at home. What are the other foods that a snake eats?

I don't think I will ever have a pet snake at home. It's too scary. I don't think I can handle that kind of animal.

I'm terrified of both snakes AND spiders. I don't think I could handle even being in the same ROOM as a caged snake. I don't even think they're are cute. I know it's not a very nice way to look at it, cuz it is just another animal, but I can't get myself to care for them. All I picture when I see them, is them biting me or attacking a poor little mousie. LOL. I dunno.. that's just me. I would love to one day face my fear and hold one, but I'm not sure I'm that brave.

I used to think the same thing, until I actually touched one. They are not slimy at all. It felt really cool to touch it.
