What's the longest that you've ever kept a pet? For me, it was one day. I won a frog in a frog race contest when I was seven years old, and I took it home. I didn't keep it long because I didn't know how to feed it bugs (I was afraid of insects), and I was a little scared of the frog. I just set it free.

When I was younger, I had a cat that we adopted as a kitten and I kept it for like 10 years. One of the cats that I have now, I have had for 6 years. I love my kitties!

That's great that you could keep your pet for so long. I don't think my family would ever take me seriously if I were to tell them that I wanted a pet. I know that they'd laugh at me and bring up the frog.

Well, it wasn't technically my cat, but my grandmother had a cat up until I was 9 years old. Poor thing died of kidney failure. She was the sweetest cat ever! I have TONS and TONS of pix with her.. I should really add them to my MySpace one day!!

I guess I couldn't really take care of a pet properly because I wasn't used to being around animals. I didn't play with any of the neighbor's dogs, and I didn't know any friends who had pets, either. The only time I interacted with an animal was when we went to visit my great aunt, and I pet her dog. He was really friendly.
