Default Helping stray animals

What do you do when a stray kitty shows up at your door? I always want to help, but I am not always able to, unfortunately. I have fed and treated stray animals, and I have also placed several kittens into a shelter. I wish I could do more.

I know exactly what you mean. If I had the money, I would love to adopt all the stray cats and work really hard at finding them homes, make sure they're taken care of right. I too have fed many stray cats in my life and some lived many years outside. There was this one that I will never forget: we named him Fluffy and he came around for I believe over 5 years. He wasn't the most friendly cat and probably wouldn't do well with people and that's why my dad, gma and I never decided to call and have him picked up.. as hard of a decision as it was. Also, in Seattle WA for some reason that I don't understand, you have to pay to have the animals picked up. It really broke my heart. I would have loved to take him in if I could have, but we just couldn't afford it. He was even friends with our cat, well-kinda lol. My cat's name was Rosie and she was a pretty feisty girl lol. I miss her! (She passed away in February) I'm pretty sure I have another post somewhere on this site about her.. with some pix

Well if they look nice I could spare some meal for it but I don't think I can adopt it. Although it really feels sad when there's an abandoned animal standing in front of you looking so hungry.

Here where we live, animal control will come and pick up a stray free of charge; they will then try to place them at a shelter, especially young kittens who are more likely to be adopted. But if I go to our local shelter, placing a cat is $40. I wouldn't mind paying it, even though we are short on money, but the shelter is usually packed full.

Here no one cares for stray animals on the street. We have no local shelter either, that's why streets are always full of ugly looking dogs because they're not being taken care of. Lately my dog has been tied up in his leash, gee that doggie is bitting strangers who is just passing by our house.

On my street, stray animals getting fed is never a big issue. I don't think I've ever seen a starving cat or dog. Most people put their trash out on the curb late at night, and the next morning, some animals will have broken into the trash and eat the thrown out food. (The neighbors are really wasteful!) Any animals that come on my street can easily dine off what people throw away.

One of the strays who has been coming to eat to our house has disappeared. We hope that someone might have adopted him, but chances are that something has happened - coyotes or car accident. He was not in the best condition healthwise, either. This is not the first time a stray kitty stops coming, but it makes me sad every time.
