Default Should I go to church?

Just so everyone knows, I'm agnostic and I haven't been to church in years. However, my bf and I are curious about it, and have been thinking about going for some time now. Do you think we should go? Also, do you have any advice? What church would be best for people like us who aren't sure if we believe in a higher power?

I'd love to invite you to our church, not because it's a certain denomination (for the record, it's Nazarene), but because it offers a sincere and open environment for newcomers. The pastor often addresses regular, every day issues that we all have to deal with, and if someone is new, they can go to a place called Living Room, meet the pastors, and talk. No one is pressured into anything.

If you could find a church like that in your area, that would be great!

We don't go on church either, but we believe in God. Although I'm a little confused to in what things I should believe. Since I was young I always believed in everything that people tell me but now I'm kinda puzzled.

Religion has always been a Bit of a no go area in my life, but it has left me curious.

If you feel like you want to go to church then why not, but I would try to find one within your community who are open to new and curious people like you and Chris.

See, my issue is, I'm completely for things that most churches would say are "bad" or "sins". For example, I am pro gay marriage and respect the GBLT (I think that's right) community. If I hear them say something negative about that, I just feel like I'm gunna burst and either say something and embarrass myself or be rude and get up in the middle and walk out. I'm also pro abortion. But ya, I mean.. I'm not in any way going to change who I am. I do things that are "sinful". I have sex, and I'm not married, I have gay friends lol etc, etc.

Default Stay away

Hi, if I were you I would stay away. If you need to communicate with a god of your choice, you can do it without going to an organised church. You will find that all they want are new converts and will attempt to get you around to their way of thinking. Next thing you know you will be carrying placards saying God says hang all gays or something similar.

Organised religion is more about dogma and set ideas and less about the essence that started the faith in the first place.

That's the kind of vibe I'm getting, so I doubt I will go. The only reason my bf wante to go was to pray for his mom who died when he was 12. Poor guy So ya, I was just going to support him. I told him though that you can pray for her anytime.. she can hear you and doesn't need you to be in church to do so.

I did not grow up in a religious family but went to church by choice for a LONG time. I no longer go and really have no desire to. I am not a fan of organized religion at all. It is not for me. If other people want to go to church, fine, but I hate when they try and push their beliefs on me. Makes me sick to think I used to do that when I was younger.

Do what feels right to you. You don't need a church. But if you want one, by all means, find one!

We never ended up going and I'm glad. I mean, if we go in the future, that's cool and everything but no matter what, I will stay who I am and am not going to let anyone try to change my views on things that I believe in
