| I always make myself these promises, I dedicate myself to them and its all I can think about, but when it comes down to it I don't keep to my word! I do this in almost every aspect of my life, I tell myself I'm going to do one thing and I do the opposite. It is even to the point where its affecting me financially. I betray myself on a daily basis, it seems the only person I lie to is myself. I don't want to act against my plans, but it seems like when I get down to the point where I must act I always do the opposite and I can't stop myself! Its like my mind closes off the reasonable part of me and does whatever it pleases, almost like I can't control myself. I know this sounds weird, but it is difficult to put into words; its almost as if my mind other than the part with conscious thought has a mind of its own.. I just need advice, any advice, how do I force myself to do the things that I need to do?! |

| Very tough situation! I deal with this myself all the time. When it comes down to it, no one other than yourself can make those goals that you set happen. For me, writing down a 'to do' list helps quite a bit. Or, I tell myself "If I do this, then I get this as a reward". For me, I promise myself something as simple as a coffee, or something like that. I find, trying to get the things done that you need to earlier in the day is an easier way to go. Hope that helps!!

I have taken the mind power course in the past and one of the most important things that is taught in this course is to persistence in keeping goals. We all fight with ourselves from one time to another to get something done or convince ourselves to make a certain decision. Procrastination is one of the biggest pitfalls. In order to beat that, one needs to impress different and constructive thoughts on the subconscious. When the subconscious has been trained with thoughts of achieving goals, concentrating on success and not failure, our day to day reality also slowly changes. There are a lot different ways to achieve this state, but since we are quite limited here, I would suggest you read a few books on mind power, I'm sure it will make a positive difference.

You need to see what is in it for you in the long run if you do stick with your promises to yourself. Make a goal chart. Write down your goals and find magazine pictures that resemble what your goals are. Put these on a poster board and keep it somewhere where you will see it every day. Read your promises to yourself every morning and make it a point to stick to them. In the long run, you are only hurting yourself if you don't keep on track. |

Its a common thing to do and I think many people do this! The advice I would give is just push yourself to the max to do what you have promised yourself. What I also do is write down things, and write all the con's if the promise I have made is not completed or not gone along with. When ever I think that I will not complete this promise or not obey it then I look at the cons of not completing the promise!
